Of MUNS, Movies and Mathematics

MUNs are fun.
hehe... rhyming.... *bows head in shame*

It is true however that I did indeed go for a MUN. DAIMUN which stands for Dhirubhai Ambani International Model United Nations.
For those who don't know what 'MUN' is it's kinda self-explanatory, right? If you still didn't get it... It's like a kid's version of the UN, where we follow the same procedure and pass resolutions and all that jazz... They talk of real issues, and represent countries just like in the real UN. It's all very formal and everyone acts like they're achieving real world peace through this.... Delusional.
I, on the other hand, was a Press Delegate. Which basically means, I was cool.
(kewl with a k more like it :p )
Anyway, we mainly had to observe committee sessions and then summarize it, shorten it, sprinkle it with the funny things that happened, and then it was published! Yay! In this daily Press Issue. We had this All Access pass that was true to its name... We could go anywhere, at any time and do anything. By that I mean, ANY FREAKING THING. Some of us stood at the back of the ECOSOC in the hall, on chairs and waved our arms and they couldn't do anything!!! HA. So we provided the entertainment and also had the formidable power to ruin and ridicule any delegate we wanted through our Press Issue... So all delegate were very very careful around us... In case they accidentally annoy us or something :p
Many people unfairly say things like 'the press may be given power but their job isn't important'. COINCIDENTALLY, I studied for about 8 committees.... I mean a whopping 24 agendas or something...!!! It took EFFORT and PERSEVERANCE and TIME. So to those saying Press Delegates are just smart-mouthed, quick-witted know-nothings, DIE.
Also the fact that we Press People had to fill up an incredibly long application and were selected rather than just picked according to our previous merits....
But they didn't have press awards!!! They just presented us separately with some wretched participation certificates and... well, it wasn't too grand. Not grand at all :(
However, the experience is what counts right? So I'd say it was AHMAZING.
This would be my fourth MUN, but the first one where I've done Press outide my own school... At HMUN, I was a delegate, and realised that public speaking was REALLY not my thing... I mean I had the whole, shaking, stuttering, forgetting-facts, seeing black at the ends of the peripheries of me vision... Nightmare. Eugh.
The other MUNs were cool too... But Press is the like-a-baows type of thing.... :p

Apart from that I read DIVERGENT.
To make a loooooooooooooooooooong story short, "Ohh... wow."
Yes people!!! Twas MIND-BLOWING!!!
So mind-blasting in fact that I read Insurgent online and now I'm DYING to read Allegiant....
*sighs*

Till then , I'm gonna read The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith. ( Who am I kidding, it's JK Rowling under a pseudonym :p )
It's interesting till now... I hope it keeps up....

Apart from that, my exams shall be upon me in a month and I've already stared revision and i'm SCARED OUT OF MY MIND.
I had better go and study now... Cuz whenever I'm not studying, the guilt seeps into me and chokes me... I kid you not, I think I'm gonna go crazy and start attempting murder  or something like that lady from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Avni.
Kidding... It's the nerves :p

AAAHHHH!!!!!!! Catching Fire!!!! How could  forget???? I watched it!!!! EEEE!!!!!!
What can I say?
WHAT?
It was fabulous of course.
*faints*

I'm going for my best friend's (call her G) party today and we're watchng Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani... Yesterday, after I finished studying Similarities... i watched Jodhaa Akbar cuz believe it or not, I hadn't seen it fully before :O
I actually thought it was lovely... Screw public opinion :)

I had better go now... The guilt is literally creeping into my blood stream. The metastasis is causing my head to throb and my mind to fill with thoughts of death and revenge.... Goodbye...

of lights and colored sand

Well hello.

IT'S DIWALI!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah!

It is, really.
Now for those of you who don't know, Diwali is the Indian, Festival of Lights. It's really beautiful.... It's to celebrate the returning of Ram to his home, Ayodhya after his 14 year exile. (Ram was a dude in this ancient story called the Ramayana written by this chap called Valmiki... check it out on Wikipedia if you want cuz I ain't ellaboratin' no more :p )

Anyway, we people, light up colorful diyas and make rangolis.
I made one outside my house so...

The  thing in the centre with the candle in it, is a diya and the colored
design itself is the rangoli.

Yeah, I made that :)
The rangoli is made from different, vibrantly hued powder with the texture of sand.... It's fun to make.... But it gets annoying because, when most people so it  by cutting out a shape in cardboard and then pouring sand into it to get definite shapes, I however, attempt it with a funnel (I'm so great right) which sometimes results in a mess... :p

It's Diwali holidays now!!!
I wish I could say that 'I'm free' but I'm not... Insensitive teachers with their need to be pile-ons. (see what I did there?)
Our break lasts ten whole days, out of which seven days, I'm not even in the same state as my school.

THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS!!!
Cuz Imma get myself to CAMP!!!!

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited!!!! We're going on this amazing trip to the Himalayas (If you don't know what they are, GET OUT OF HERE AND NEVER RETURN) where we're gonna be trekking and living in tents in this base camp. We're doing this whole List of Activities that's gonna be Ehpihc. :D

I've packed a rucksack (I've never used one before... It's all new to me) and a small travel bag. (they keep calling it a 'knapsack' but the word sounds evil to me.... )

Oh two days back I got a really bad stomach infection, and now I'm on anti-biotics... (I ALWAYS manage this) but I'll be fine :)

Happy Diwali peeps!!!

Of chemistry, chemistry and chemistry

I'm so tired of studying Chemistry.
SO TIRED.

No. Not just Chemistry. EVERYTHING. I've had it with padhai (studying).

I'm literally like:

YES.

Merlin<3<3<3<3

Short post today... Guess why??
(Hint: It's to do with STUDYING)

Book: Read Russian Roulette by Anthony Horowitz.
You'll be able to understand the book if you've read at least the first book of the long EPIC Alex Rider series (by the same dude). Russian Roulette is about a hired assassin involved in the series.... but this book is his life story... How he was hired to kill Alex Rider, a fourteen-year-old spy recruited for special missions by the MI6. IT'S AHMAZING.

A Lesson in Acceptance

I'm presently watching The Diamond of the Day Part 2.
My hands are shaking.
I kid you not. They actually are.

I know this is the end.
I know what's going to happen.
I know that sitting here in denial, pretending that it won't, is stupid.
I know that however much I wish, there will be no season 6.
I know.

But I can't accept it.

I CAN'T.

-
-
-
-
-
-

No.
Arthur....

No.

He can't be dead.

He.... he can't.

-
-
-

I thought I had prepared myself for this.... You know, at least tried to accept it....

Guess I was wrong.

I have not cried this hard in a long time.

Now I'm just... Shocked into silence.

This....

No.
-
-
-
-
I wrote that much of the post yesterday... (and cleverly forgot to publish it)  When I was seriuhsly grieving.... I'm still sad. very sad. But I've come to accept it.... I mean, Merlin, Guinevere, the knights, Camelot.... they all accepted it... And slowly moved on.... So can I. Arthur dying was like losing a friend.... Merlin ending was like a chapter of my life closing.... I need to remember it with a smile and not with pain...

Now there may be hundreds of you who believe that I'm making a seriously huge mountain out of a molehill.... That's okay. I think so too. I could say Merlin is just a tv show and that it never really happened. I could dismiss it all as nonsense and move on...

But I don't want to. I want Arthur's (so what if it never ACTUALLY happened) death to teach me something.... That things don't always turn out perfect. But eventually, if you have good in your heart... You can have a great life... You can move on from your losses and learn and respect other people's sacrifices.

With that...

Alvida,
Squish.

PS: I kinda stole the post title from a Lesson in Vengeance from Season 5 of Merlin :)

Chanting- Day One

I just want to say..... the program was absolutely DIVINE.
We sounded divine.
We looked fabulous.
We felt supreme.

Wow.
2 more days to go....

Also. before the item was entirely over.... some total MORONS started clapping... I mean they're supposed to appreciate the beauty... The smooth river-like flowing of the music and shut the heck up.
Oooooohhh no. They choose to totally kill the atmosphere by CLAPPING.

I was literally about to go all:

After All These Years....

Hello there internet.
I don't get the thing with sleeping...
It genuinely puzzles me how much I love to sleep.

So a lot's been going on lately and I want to catch you people up....
(side note: my blog hit 1007 pageviews... whoa :O )

1. There is this program in our school every year called the Variety Entertainment Program where there are various (well DUH) items like western dance, Indian dance, choir, chanting, recitals, gymnastics, poems and a main play. So I usually don't bother taking part in all this stuff because I am a VERY lazy person...
However THIS time, I did. (WHY DID I ????)
Don't get me wrong, it's been ahmazing fun staying back with my friends and singing. (btw if you don't quite get what 'chanting' is... It's basically singing... we sing these sufi songs, vedic chants, prayers and invocations to the Guru within us and all that gaff... )
It's been fun trying on our beautiful costumes that make us look like angels (It's a white anarkali with a colorful Rajasthani dupatta (shawl) and jhumkis (dangly layered earrings) )... That's all great...
But staying back EVERY FREAKING DAY OF THE WEEK AND SINGING THE SAME SONGS AND PRETENDING TO BE ALL HEARTY AND INTERESTED?????????

No.
Just no.

Then there's the TIRING AS EFF journey back by B.E.S.T. bus in the stifling Mumbai heat; my loooong hair sticking to my sweaty neck, sitting squashed in a bus with other equally (if not more) disgustingly sweaty human beings who keep swiping at the beads trickling down their faces with grimy hands.... YEUCH.

So the last month and a half... though relaxed, has been living HELL.
The program is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at my school... (Yeah... all three days cuz our school hall isn't fricking big enough to accommodate too many people so instead we have the ENTIRE show on THREE EFFING DAYS.
Grrrrrrrrr....
 Today was the technical rehearsal...
I was so DEAD tired when i came back from school, that I just flopped down on the floor of my room and went to sleep.... and BAM it's 6  o'clock.
Of course I was also watching Merlin in the afternoon which brings me to....

2. I AM OBSESSED WITH MERLIN OHMYROWLING ASDFGHJKL IT IS THE BEST SHOW THAT WAS EVER CREATED EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Speechless

What?
WHAT?
A four-year-old and a seventeen-year-old were raped.
WHAT???

You ask where's humanity?
It flew out the window a long time back.

I open the Mumbai Mirror (Daily newspaper of Mumbai) and I see THAT. Along with so many other heinous crimes.
WHAT?
All I see is 'corrupt' 'scam' 'slashed' 'killed' 'abused' 'death toll'
WHAT?
I can't even think. I'm sitting here and all I want to do is kick that revolting bastard's ass.
WHAT?
There was another recent rape case where a female journalist was assaulted in an abandoned factory. Then another of a father raping his daughter. And another of a mother caught trying to sell her daughter's virginity.
WHAT?
I want to do something. I sign hordes of online petitions and like all these pages and share all this stuff. But it's not enough. Clearly. I need to do something. For starters, I realized, I need to prepare myself.
WHY?
Why is it necessary for me to feel safer when I'm carrying a Swiss knife in my bag? Why am I learning self-defense? Why am I not allowed to take a cab at night? Why is it impossible to trust anyone?
WHY?
How can ministers still claim that it is the Woman's fault that she got raped? They believe that if women wear less provocative clothing, then they're safe.
WHAT?
Bullshit.

You ask... If you're so tough, watcha gonna do about it?
Well. That's the problem. Going out there and shouting slogans with a group of women isn't enough.
We need other men to understand that ALL OF THIS CRAP is real. This is happening.
We need them to see how much easier it is for them to walk down a road, than for us.
Why do we need pepper-spray? Why the need to carry weapons?
Why is it a crime for a girl to look pretty? Why can't we dress up? Why can't we be who we want to be?

Rape isn't the only thing.
Girls are the victim. Always.

Bollywood movies (not all, but a Huge portion of 'em) instigate wrong feelings towards girls.
Mean treat women like objects. They look at their bodies and their beauty, rather than their personality and brains. Those certain selfish buttheads believe that women are weak, shallow and can be used as toys.
NO.
Goddammit  NO.

Women are not supposed to just sit at home and cook. Women are not there to just run the house. Women are not there to pop out children like baby-vending machines.
NO.

They say 'increase security'. Yes. Do that.
But when will the need for excessive security end??
WHEN?
Officials to whom rape cases are reported are sometimes men.
WHAT?
Imagine the height of humiliation the woman goes through while describing the incident. Imagine the way the officials would look at her, the images that would flit through their minds.
WHAT?
It's not the Women who need to change you damned fools, it's the Men.
Life-imprisonment for rapists. Hang them if you must. Wouldn't be a big loss to the world.

And yes, this IS another bhashan (lecture) on how we should band together regardless of cast, creed, gender or religion and fight this terrible madness that seems to be reining people's minds.
It IS.
Don't groan. If you did. Well. What did I say. Waste of Oxygen.

So to all those guys who objectify women:
Chodh yeh paagalpan. Hum bhi toh tere jaise hi insaan hain.
(Leave this madness elsewhere. We're humans, like you)
